MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Jesus told us: «“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.» Matthew 11:28 NIV
This week one of our good mentors went to Switzerland to one of the most famous cross-cultural missionary debrief conferences called “Breathe”. He shared with us this quote that was given at the conference:
“Rest is a weapon given to us by God; The enemy hates it because he wants you stressed & occupied.” -Elisabeth Elliot
Many times we as cross-cultural workers forget that we are working 24/7, that our entire life is a service that is visible to everyone, all the time. This makes us tired and rice up our stress levels due to the context in which we serve. That is why it is very important to be aware of resting and using this powerful weapon that the Lord has given us. We should even be a witness by taking care of our body, mind and spirit with a good rest.
Resting is not, not to do nothing. Resting is changing activities. Resting your body requires three main things: Workout Hard, Eat clean and Sleep deep. Going out in nature, enjoying a hobby, traveling to a different place or even getting a haircut are activities that will make you feel great and bring rest to your mind. When we are tired and stressed we need to rest our spirit. Jesus is who we must seek for rest by spending time with him by worshiping and praising, reading the gospels or simply being quietly snuggled in his arms.
This week let's be intentional in resting our body, mind and spirit. What are you going to do to rest in these three areas this week? Write down 3 things that you are going to do this week that will help you rest!
Thanks to all of you, our team and the Latin-American church for your prayers and continued support.
-Agustin
LATINO PARTY
This week we prepared a time of fellowship for Latino workers who live in northern Thailand. We cooked together a barbecue with ribs, wings, corn, corn tortillas, beans and salads. We gather to celebrate with the Latino workers the independence of many of the countries of Latin America, which are celebrated in September. We also celebrated the wedding anniversary from two couples so we prayed for them and together we sang a mariachi song. We were representing: Mexico Honduras , Brazil and Ecuador .
WEBSITE IN ENGLISH
This week we install the multi-language functionality on our website. We translated everything into English and from now on you can fully navigate both in Spanish and English on our site. The next step will be to include Portuguese, which is another of the languages spoken in Latin America.
We are very excited that the website is a reality and a means of communication with our strategic partners, the church in Latin America and the cross-cultural workers in Asia.
MENTORING WITH CIT
We continue answering the 110-question questionnaire that helps us ti think on the different skills and knowledge required on a successful cross-cultural worker.
This week in our mentoring meeting we analyzed the first 20 questions. One specific question that caught our attention for use it with Latino workers in Asia was this: Exercises a life of repentance—a stance of decisive change when confronted with behavior or lifestyle or attitude that is contrary to the gospel.
We are going to develop tools that help to understand and mainly to put these principles into practice in the life of the Latino Worker who will later also use it with the new disciples.
LIBERTAD #30 TALI INDIA
«“And I, because of what they have planned and done, am about to come and gather the people of all nations and languages, and they will come and see my glory.»
Isaiah 66:18 NIV
This week we intercede for the Tali, an ethnic group located mainly in the south east of India. The Tali have a population of 22 million people but only 0.02% are a follower of Jesus. Their language is Hindu but they practice Islam.
Here are the prayer points for this people group that came out of this week's meeting:
* May the cloak of darkness that is over this ethnic group fall.
* The anointing with the Oil from Christ.
* the protection of the few believers converted to Christ.
* Songs of freedom, we are your sons and your daughters.
* May God change hearts of stone to hearts of flesh.
* That more workers come to this fields.
* May the light of Christ illuminate their lives and minds.
* FREEDOM!
TRANSLATION OF THE 49 DIRECTIVES
We are helping in the translation from English to Spanish of a discipleship material for police and military. This ministry, which began in the Philippines, is looking for opportunities to expand to other countries, including Latin-America. These materials are also being translated into other languages such as Hindi and Nepali, languages of less-reached ethnic groups, and places where Latino workers with a police or military background may go to serve in the future.
In conversations with this ministry, we are going to support by connecting them with the police and military in Latin America. As a result of this discipleship training, new transcultural workers with military and police training are going to be identified for future work in the least reached ethnic groups being part of the team that will work with police and military in this groups.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELENAThis week at our team meeting we celebrate Elena Naranjo's birthday. She is a warrior of light that the Lord has been preparing to join CENTRAL’s team and now she is ready to serve in a cross-cultural context. She is currently in Ecuador getting ready to be sent to Thailand.
It was a very special time in which we were able to hear from Elena the gifts that the Lord has given her during this year and the yearnings of her heart for the next one. We had an emotional time sending her a “digital” hug and singing “las mañanitas” a cappella. We pray for her, bless her life and her new year.
Happy birthday Elena!
DRAFTING CENTRAL’S PROJECT (JOB DESCRIPTIONS)
We continue working on drafting of the CENTRAL’s project. This week we prepared the leadership structure and identified the need of a COO. We wrote the -Job Description- for this position. We took into account the functions, skills, education and experience needed to serve in Asia in regard to the search, development and implementation of Latin American innovation projects to reach the least reached ethnic groups.
MEETING WITH DIOGO FOR MEMBER SUCCESS
This week’s meeting with Diogo, we were able to share with him about our objective of channeling the missionary efforts of Latin America to the least reached ethnic groups found in Asia.
Diogo showed interest in becoming the director of -Member Success-, the project that will be in charge of everything related to member care of Latino cross-cultural workers. Diogo is going to help us establish good member care procedures for our team and ministry and also generate a timeline of the worker's journey to identify critical points where it is necessary to equip the worker with personal and spiritual care tools so that they can be successful in their ministry.
We are very happy to be able to work together with -Pontes- with the aim of taking care of the new cross-cultural workers that are currently being sent from the global south.
